  Another "curse of our British system" might arguably be the Oxbridge school of casting-to-type as seen in the TV adaptation: Hiddleston, Laurie, Hollander, Colman. All excellent actors (especially Hollander's scene-pilfering Corky) but as a package all safely delivered to the US backers.
