Peter Bowles on acting
Wednesday 5th September 2012
Quote of the day: “On awakening, if the actor is already in a play, the first thing that they will hear is the sound of low and slightly menacing growling. Then the actor is quickly aware that in the corner of the bedroom crouches what seems to be a black dog, lips slightly apart, so his teeth are visible and he’s growling. This apparition invokes the part the actor has to play that night or afternoon, and it’s going to follow the actor from room to room and will only disappear when the actor finally shuts their front door to set off to the theatre.” (Peter Bowles’s Behind the Curtain)
