SOS: Save Our Stages
Friday 3rd July 2020
The fate of British theatre fills most of us with gloom. As a temporary antidote, the colour pink is being used to cheer up some drab edifices as venues across the UK are wrapped in pink tape reading “missing live theatre”, as part of a campaign to “bring joy and colour” to the theatre. The #MissingLiveTheatre initiative was launched by Scene/Change, which supports designers during the pandemic. From today, the campaign will start with the National Theatre getting pinked, followed by Manchester Royal Exchange, Edinburgh’s Lyceum Theatre, the Lyric Belfast and Sherman Theatre in Cardiff during the day. With, I hope, more to follow…
